Outrun 2 is one of the best arcade racing games ever.  Well that’s it I guess.

Seriously; let’s start with the arcade mode.  You can choose from quite a few well knows sports cars.  They have slightly jazzed up the sound track but I’ll forgive them for that.  You have the unique track split at the end of each course.  I say unique; it’s only ever been used in the original outrun.  Have a look a the screen shot below and see how good this game looks as well.

The thing that separates this from the rest is the shear adrenaline rush that you get playing this game.  No guns, no turbo charger, no cars trying to smash you off the track; it’s just a sheer joy to play.  I haven’t completed it yet due to the work I have been doing on this web site.  I don’t mind; it will only take a short while to get everything on and I’m going back to play this game.

Amazingly this game is twenty years old this year and is still well worth playing.  I know the graphics and the gameplay can’t compete but, if you want the nearest thing to driving like an idiot without braking the law, this games it baby.
