Raiden
was originally released in the arcades in the late eighties. It was a standard shoot-em-up. It had the usual upgrades that were seen in
games of that nature. It was only with
the release of the Sega Megadrive and the Super NES, that arcade games could
be released on the home console in anything that looked like the arcade.
To
be honest; the PSX version was the
closest version to the arcade and still could cope with the amount of sprites
that the original arcade machine used.
In Japan, they have finally released the third instalment. In the arcades, there were many different
games that have been linked to Raiden but not in name.
It
was released on so many formats that I could only mention a few: The PC Engine, Super NES and the P. These are the versions that I have played
and I’m sure that there were many others
