I remember
spending many a night whiling away the night playing this game. It was action packed and really fun. It wasn’t as good as playing the arcade
version that had a cockpit for you to play in. I was a great conversion and I didn’t
expect anything less from the same company that released the original arcade
version. The best version was on the
Sega Saturn but, at the time this was the best version available and really
good game.
I
remember buying a version of afterburner for the Atari ST and taking it
around a friend of mines house. I
loaded it up and after ten minutes saying; “What is the crap?” I could believe that a company could
produce such a poor version of this great game and was looking forward to the
Megadrive version. Thankfully this is very
close and After the debacle with the Atari ST version, was a blessing.
Even
to this day I wondered how Activision was able to release such a travesty of
a game on the computer. If I was Sega,
I would have demanded that they improve it drastically or wouldn’t be given
permission to release it even a 99 pence.
Well
moan out the way; get this game on the Megadrive if you can’t find the Saturn
version. I think it was also released
in Japan on the Dreamcast.
