Quake

This is the first of four games that changed the world.  Just like Doom and Heretic, this game did not use a 3D graphics accelerated card and it only need a Pentium 100 to run well  and a Pentium 200 to run with everything maxed out. 

Considering this game is coming up to being ten years old, you must admit it’s not that bad looking.

OK, the graphics to look a bit tired and you couldn’t look around but it was a game that you had to play at the time.  It was an experience and one that you wanted everyone to enjoy.  I also enjoyed it because it actually ran on my PC. 

This was the days of DOS and it didn’t make it any less enjoyable due to the fact.

I think the background is from a newer 3D accelerated version.

So Go out get this game; as it’s now abandonware.  Look for a program to run it in OpenGL or DirectX and have some fun; you won’t regret it.
