In doom
you are sent to hell, where you fight the minions of the devil. This game by today’s standards is really simple
but in its day was considered by many a work of art. I thought it was a pile of shite. The music on the game sucked, the graphics
were awful even by the standards set back then. It was one of the first games that started off as Shareware and
eventually became a full game, that had four different episodes. I think this version had three.
You
were quite limited in what your character could do. No jump button, no ability to look around and as far as leaning
around a corner; you must be joking.
I
remember a friend of mine hyperventilating at the thought of playing this and
it follow up, Doom 2. I still don’t
really get this game or the many sequels that followed after, including Quake
and Quake 2.
I
found them to be rather simple and the plot was basically, find the switch or
key and then get to the exit for the next level. The only piece if story appears at the end of the game. That’s it, no progressive story, no
empathy with your character, nothing.
I’m sorry, I know this will upset a lot of fans of this game but, THIS
GAME REALLY SUCKS.
