Chaos head has definitely got the right title for this
twelve part anime series. It is very confusing and requires you to watch
intently to what is going on. You can't eat your dinner whilst watching
this show, or you will miss an important part of the plot.
The plot is so confusing that it probably rivals Metal
Gear Solid in its levels of confusion.
I will try my best to describe this confusing mess.
To start of with; the main protagonist lives in a lock
up, that would normally be used to transport goods on a ship. Why he lives
here is never discovered or resolved. I hate to point out the obvious but,
this is Japan. It must be unbelievably hot in this place and his computer
never over heats.
He starts to get messages from a strange person who has
photos of killings. There are a series of so called Gene murders that are
taking place and later on, we find out that the photos that have been taken, are
dated a day before they really do happen. Weird or what!
So a bunch of characters who all have there own agenda
turn up and eventually we have the usual boss battle.
This series steels from so many different shows,
computer games and anime, that it would be impossible to mention them all.
It definitely gets a 9 on my weirdoshitto meter.
So we have a boy that shuns himself. He doesn't
need any help from all the youths around him who do the same. He has a
serious lack of backbone complex and always puts himself down. People turn
up and he's the only one who seems to know what's going on.

This girl
here seems to be following him to find out if he's the cause of the Gene
killings and tries to get close to him for her reasons. She acts all
sweet and then all of a sudden become serious. She had a twin sister
who committed suicide with four other people and is trying to find out if it
was really suicide. She turns out to be a Knight. They all do in
the end. It is so predictable. |

 |
This girl
here is the lead singer of a band, whose lyrics seem to used by the killer
when he murders again. She acts aloof, or
maybe that's just her being shy. She talks to no one but the boy
below. She tells him that the world can not be saved, unless he finds
his sword.
By the way; this sword can not been seen by anyone
and I'll address that latter. |

|
 |
This girl
here is the boys sister and seems nice enough. She visits him a lot in
his lock up but gets treated badly by him. He really is a prized
WANKER. |
| |
|
 |
This is the
main protagonist in the series. He has to be the wettest, most useless
hero I have ever seen in any anime. He even walks past a girl who has
hurt herself and does nothing. He is only concerned with anime
and computer games; the online games to be precise. He imagines a girl
from either an anime series or a game he might have played. He is a
typical Otaku and has all the models of this one girl. |

|
 |
This girl
appears early in the series and is standing in front of someone who has many
knives stuck in him. She turns towards the boy and he craps his pants
and legs it. Nothing strange so far. I know I would!
She then turns up at school the next day and starts
to act like they have been friends for a while. The boys craps his
pants again and starts accusing her of wanting to kill him. His friend
shows him a photo of them together and that they have been hanging out since
the first grade.
The boy starts to think that he's going crazy and
questions himself. You had better get used to this, because he does
this a lot, to the point of being almost noxious. |

|
 |
This is the
Anime/game character the the boy sees all the time when he is alone.
She keeps reminding the boy that he only likes the 2D world. I.E.
Anything from anime or a computer game. Yet, he never questions the
fact that she's 3D. She seems to be the
ultimate fan boys dream. She's always optimistic and there whenever he
needs her. I just think she and he's weird. |
| |
|
 |
This girl is
mute for some reason and you only find out why that is latter in the series. |
| |
|
 |
This girl
here walks around with a huge F**KING sword all the time and no one with the
exception of the knights can see it; this includes the pussy boy above. |
So we now have most of the cast of this almost
forgettable anime.
The premise of the show is as follows. Imagine if
you could control the vibrations of the world. Imagine if the vibrations
could be controlled at the source; I.E. The brain. The brain is a
receiver of information from the eyes, ears, and any other sense that might be
needed. It the decodes it into an image that it comprehends and that is
our view of the world around us.
Imagine if you could send your thoughts out into the
world and had the power to change the world around you? You might want to
get a couple of pain killers; this is going to get really confusing.
Some people have the gift of changing the world around
them and can do some amazing things without any help. These people are
called Knights. They are able to make the impossible, possible and
regularly do.
We later find out that some Church of Light, or
something like that, are also trying to control the public through some
computer. They use mobile receivers to send a signal into the public.
The purpose is to control what they see and what they think. You can have
an army walking down the middle of the road, but no one will be worried if they
can't see it. Or you can have them killing each other if they think that
they're starving and there is only a few loaves of bread left to eat.
You could say that the writers of this anime series
were trying to say, that all miracles were nothing more than a mass delusion of
the mind.
I told you this will get complicated.
The trouble with this series is that, as much as it's
nice to have a plot that requires thought, not many people will have even heard
of the theories that this series is trying to elude to, let alone understand
them. It can be complicated and yet it is simple. When you
find out what is going on, it will make sense but you will feel disappointed.
The problem with this series can be also aimed at games
like, Xenogears. It is very convoluted and also simple. It tries too
hard to be something it's not. I would only watch this if you understood
the Matrix movie, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, The prisoner TV series, Xenogears
(Playstation game) and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Once you have watched or
played these programs, it might make sense. Otherwise, I would steer clear
of this series.
It's giving me a head ache just writing this review. |
