This movie is your standard fantasy affair.
![]() The story is set in England and revolves around a wall that leads to a magical kingdom. For some reason, it reminded me of Hadrian's Wall that separates England from Scotland. One night some man decides to visit this kingdom and gets past the guard. He gets into the kingdom, where he meets a pretty women; who takes him to her caravan and you knows what happens next. A little while latter, a baby is left with this man. So many years into the future, his son is trying to get the interest of a certain lady and whilst they are having champagne; they notice a falling star. I must point out the origin of this star first. The king of this kingdom (Peter O'Tool) has four sons and he watches one get killed and the last thing he says and does is to tell them that they need to turn the jewel on his chain back to a ruby. The chain thing promptly disappears in the night sky and eventually falls back to the earth; where the young couple watch it fall to the earth. The young man decides that he will bring this fallen star to this women to get her hand in marriage. When he gets to the spot of the fallen star; instead of finding a rock, he finds a women and starts to ask the usual dumb questions; Have you seen a fallen star, are you OK? The usual nonsense. The problem is that even though I watched this movie only a couple of days ago, I've already forgotten what happens next. They go off in some direction and then some old witch women decides that she must have the heart of the fallen star, to become immortal. The three sons of the now dead king are pursuing the women to become the next king and well that's about it. The wet behind the ears man starts to dress cool and falls in love with the star. I don't know why but she didn't half remind me of the late Linda Mc Cartney. There are a few interesting performances in the movie. It was funny watching Robert Deniro playing someone who was almost gay. That bird from Scarface made an interesting witch. This movie reminded me of Narnia but better. If you have seen that or the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you'll know what to expect in this film. I liked it.
