PORTAL, PORTAL, PORTAL, PORTAL,
PORTAL!!! If you have never played
the Portal game that was packaged with the orange box, you will not
understand how important it will be in this movie.
At the beginning of the film, we see a bunch of
US army officials following a would be terrorist, or someone they think
is a terrorist and they have to decide whether or not to attack the
target. The president tells them to destroy the target and the
target is destroyed.
We move on to where Jerry Shaw is at working
and is gambling with his co-workers. He returns home to find out
that his twin brother Ethan has died and he goes to the funeral.
When he returns home he checks his bank account on the way home,
where he finds out that someone has deposited $750,000 and has left load
of bomb making equipment in his flat.
A voice on his mobile phone tells him that he
has thirty seconds to get out of the building (or something like that
anyway) and he is arrested for taking too long. He is assisted in
escaping and this is where Rachel first
appears and is dragged into it withot any choice in the matter.

Who
or what the voice is tells her about her son. Her son has gone
to Washington DC to play for the State of the union speech. If
she doesn't follow the instructions of the voice, her son will be
killed. and this is the start of a mad series of car chases across
the US. I got the feeling that I was watching a Michael Bay
movie. I knew it was made by DreamWorks and Stephen Spielberg
was the Executive producer but, it just has the Michael Bay stamp
all over it. |

So
off they both go like good people who have no idea what the hell is
going on. What they don't know about is that the government
has been working on a new explosive, that can take out a football
stadium with a tiny amount. Seriously; this film just feels
like transformers and is just as silly. The guy who directed
it must be Michael Bays prodigy or something like that, I swear. |

This
film is silly and I should have realised that, by the fact that Shia
LaBeouf is in it. It is a popcorn movie and isn't bad but if
you don't like Michael Bay movies, you won't like this film.
If you do like his work, then you will enjoy this film for what it
is and that is an action film with a really silly plot. |
It would be nice to see Shia LaBeouf do
something different than the same roll he played in Transformers again,
looking frightened as usual and just moving from one calamity to
another. I was partly expecting the computer to talk about a
cake that it baked and how you didn't care or the stupid song at the end
of Portal the game.
Spoiler warning!!
If you do not want to know what or who the
person is that is causing all the problems, I would stop reading now.
You would have to be pretty stupid not to work out that a computer voice
was talking to Jerry and Rachel by about a third of the way through the
movie and that it was following orders that were programmed into it by
the government and the intention is to overthrow the government. I
won't say how the computer intends to do it and why Jerry is so
important but it's not as silly as you would think. |
